A mother-of-two has revealed the heartbreaking letter her daughter wrote to Father Christmas this year.

Samantha Dicken, 34, from Stourport-on-Severn, North Worcestershire, discovered the note tucked into her eight-year-old daughter Kourtney Wood’s notebook, on November 21, while cleaning her room. 

In the letter, Kourtney asks Santa to help make ‘the world go back to normal.’

Samantha, who works as an NHS support worker, took to Facebook to share a photo of  her daughter’s letter and said that she hopes Santa can make the wish come true. 

The note reads: ‘ Dear Santa, all I would like for at Christmas is for the world to go back to normal!

‘I don’t know if you can do that, but if you can’t do that, it is OK.

‘I don’t mind if I have nothing, I do have everything. Well, I have everything I need, thank you.’

Samantha said that lockdown wasn't easy for Kourtney because she was unable t see her brothers, who both live in Cheshire

Speaking about how the lockdown affected her daughter, Samantha said: ‘ During the lockdown, Kourtney has been through a mixture of emotions.

‘She has been really up and down with her moods. She hates the restrictions and misses the family as both of my brothers live in Cheshire so we haven’t seen them for a while.

‘She’s also struggled with all the new changes that have taken place at school due to government guidelines.’

Samantha also said she became emotional after discovering her daughter’s note: ‘I cried with sadness at how she is feeling due to Covid restrictions but also at how thoughtful and selfless she is.’

Samantha’s other son, Ronnie, is only 16-months-old and is oblivious to the pandemic, while her fiancé Jamie has continued working his job in groundworks throughout lockdown.

She said that getting out on walks has been a saving grace for her throughout the lockdown. 

Kourtney’s letter has been liked more than 15,000 times on social media, with hundreds of people leaving comments underneath the post. 

One person wrote: ‘What an absolute credit your little girl is to you.’

Someone else added: ‘Oh so beautiful, tears in my eyes so thoughtful.’

Another person added: ‘How lovely. What a caring little girl you have. It made me cry!’
